The boarding school in Stara Basan

We believe that helping a child takes more than delivering gifts or hosting one-time events. For children living in orphanages, holidays aren’t about sweets — they’re about waiting for someone who will truly be there for them. Consistently. Sincerely.

That’s why the Chance for Change Foundation has chosen a different approach: instead of offering surface-level help to many, we focus on deep, long-term support for one school. Since 2021, we’ve been working closely with students at the boarding school in the village of Stara Basan, Chernihiv region. This school has become a place where trust grows — and with it, real change begins.

Our mission is to help teenagers not only dream of a better future, but take real steps toward it. We walk with them every step of the way — from discovering their inner potential to moving to the city, enrolling in education, and finding their first job.

Our program includes:

• Individual guidance in choosing a career path and educational institution

• Support with exam preparation and academic studies

• Practical skills about city life and adapting to new environment 

• Support in finding housing and part-time work

• Emotional support through every transition

• Providing essential items — technology, clothing, textbooks

We don’t just talk about what’s possible — we help make it real, together with the children.

We walk alongside each child, turning hopes into plans and dreams into achievable goals.
